PGY2 Critical Care: Swedish Medical Center’s ASHP-accredited PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program has been training the next generation of critical care pharmacy leaders since 2020. Our mission is to create an environment for residents to master critical care pharmacotherapy, develop their own progressive practice, and lead the profession forward through innovation, education, and collaboration. We want our residents to feel both challenged and supported as they take ownership of their growth and aspirations. Training at a community health system within Washington State affords our residents the opportunity to practice autonomously at the top of their license as an essential stakeholder within the healthcare team. We currently offer 1 PGY2 critical care pharmacy resident position. PGY2 critical care residents rotate through 7 specialty critical care areas and select 2 elective rotations. Core rotations are 6 weeks in length, apart from a 3-week orientation. Elective rotations can last 4-6 weeks, depending on resident interest and site availability. Two full project weeks are allocated throughout the year based on rotation availability and pertinent deadlines.
