A comprehensive residency designed to develop a competent and compassionate hematology/oncology pharmacy practitioner, researcher, and preceptor/educator. The program is customized to meet the individual needs and goals of each resident. Experiences include medical oncology, malignant hematology, hematopoietic cell transplantation (autologous and allogeneic, including cord and haploidentical transplants and CAR-T), pediatric hematology/oncology, gynecology oncology, ambulatory care (heme/onc and HCT), Investigational Drug Pharmacy services (oncology specific), research, administration, and graduate teaching certificate.
Program highlights:
Variety of core and elective rotation experiences offered in all areas of oncology practice, including transplant, CAR-t therapy and pediatrics
Experiences within Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center, Children's Hospital of Georgia, and the Georgia Cancer Center -- all on one centrally located campus in downtown Augusta, Georgia

The pharmacy has ambulatory care pharmacists practicing under collaborative practice (primary care clinics, digestive health, oncology), a pharmacist-managed anticoagulation clinic, clinical research pharmacy, and consultant pharmacist services to a long-term care facility. Wellstar MCG pharmacists have teaching appointments as clinical faculty and pharmacy preceptors for the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy and institution also serves as the clinical practice site for six full-time UGA pharmacy faculty.
