Our Institution Peconic Bay Medical Center is a community-based teaching hospital located in Riverhead, NY. The hospital has 150 beds, an average census of 125 patients and the largest and busiest emergency department on the east end of Long Island. Daily Peconic Bay Medical Center is a Stroke Center, Trauma Center (Level III) and home of the Kanas Center for Advanced Surgery. The addition in the spring of 2020 of the Corey Critical Care Pavilion added a new critical care tower expanding our cardiac and intensive care services. Our Program Peconic Bay Medical is offering two PGY-1 Pharmacy residency positions for the upcoming Residency year. Our Program is ASHP accredited and will be a twelve month program starting July 1. The residency program is designed to provide professional growth, clinical skills development, and can be tailored to the interests of the resident. Core rotations include critical care, emergency medicine, Infectious disease, internal medicine and pharmacy administration. During these rotations residents will work with an interdisciplinary team to provide optimal patient care. Elective rotations are available to fit the needs of the resident. Residents will be provided ACLS training and expected to respond to hospital rapid responses and code emergencies. Additionally, Peconic Bay Medical Center is a primary teaching site for St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and residents will have the opportunity to precept pharmacy students. A teaching certification course will also be available.
