Monroe Hospital and Medical Group is a not-for-profit single hospital health system, grounded in mission and fueled by innovation. Serving southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois since 1939, Monroe Clinic has received LEED-Silver Certification for our 58-bed new hospital that opened its doors in 2012. This was followed by a state-of-the-art new clinic building which opened its doors in 2019.  The program's primary focus is Ambulatory Care, with a strong emphasis on teaching.  The residency offers diverse rotational experiences, with the resident working alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and pharmacists, providing support and assisting with pharmacist-managed pharmacotherapy clinics working under comprehensive collaborative practice agreements.  The residency's primary goal is to prepare competent, well-rounded clinicians, capable of practicing independently in a clinic setting in collaboration with physicians and the health care team.

Through a comprehensive scope of practice, a variety of patients are managed within the Pharmacotherapy clinic. These include patients with diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, heart failure, anticoagulation needs, pharmacogenomic counseling needs, pain management, tobacco use, thyroid issues, depression/anxiety, respiratory disorders, and more.

Emergency Medicine

Antibiotic Stewardship

Oncology

Research opportunities focus on patient outcomes in an ambulatory setting. There are multiple opportunities to collaborate with the Family Medicine Residency Program.  There is a required Public Health Outreach Project and a Professional Development longitudinal rotation, as well as the an annual project requirement. 

Residents are also encouraged to participate in a Teaching Certificate Program offered through the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy.

Applicants must be a graduate from an American Council of Pharmaceutical Education accredited School of Pharmacy with a PharmD degree and eligible for licensure in the State of Wisconsin.
