Ascension in Wisconsin - In Wisconsin, Ascension operates 10 hospital campuses, more than 100 related healthcare facilities and employs more than 1,100 primary and specialty care clinicians from Racine to Appleton. Serving Wisconsin since 1848. Ascension is a faith-based healthcare organization committed to delivering compassionate, personalized care to all, with special attention to persons living in poverty and those most vulnerable.
The diversity of healthcare services we provide allows us to offer four unique PGY1 pharmacy programs, one PGY1/PGY2 health system pharmacy and leadership-combined residency program and one PGY2 ambulatory care program. Residents will be given the opportunity to develop their clinical skills during many diverse required rotations. Throughout the year, the resident will become confident in making pharmaceutical recommendations, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other medical staff, as well as advancing their written and verbal communication skills. We are confident you will find a training program that matches your professional interests and prepares you for a career in an advanced practice environment.
All programs offer the following rotations: Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Oncology, and Teaching Certificate.
Elective opportunities vary by site. Example rotations include: Ambulatory Care, NICU, Women's Health, Cardiology, Geriatrics, Informatics, Medication Safety. Please see each sites website for their offerings.
Each resident’s research project will be presented at the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin Pharmacy Residency Conference and the Ascension national residency virtual conference. Residents are required to attend the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and will be expected to present a poster about their residency research project.
Additional experiences include participation on local, market and national projects, attending cardiac, respiratory and stroke alerts, precepting pharmacy students, and involvement the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin.
