Residency Special Features:The PGY 1 Pharmacy Residency Program builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for post graduate year 2 (PGY 2) pharmacy residency training. The residency supports development of the knowledge, attitude, and skills required to ensure optimal drug therapy outcomes and nurtures the life skills and professionalism required to contribute positively to health care. Required experiential areas include: internal medicine/surgery, inpatient family practice, critical care, progressive care (includes nephrology and cardiology), pediatrics, infectious disease, emergency medicine, ambulatory care, clinical and operational staffing, practice management ,teaching, and leadership, teaching certificate, and an annual project. Elective experiential areas include: neonatology, oncology, clinical or operational administration, or electives in any of the required areas. Well-integrated with medical staff including Family Practice Medical Residents. Teaching opportunity potential at Idaho State/University of Alaska (ISU/UAA) School of Pharmacy.
