Residency Showcase Program Listings

Clinical rotations in the 12-month, hospital-based Pharmacy Residency Program at Methodist Richardson are offered in a variety of clinical and operational areas. The resident's responsibilities include:

• Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary team to provide optimal patient care
• Providing medication therapy management including pharmacokinetics consults
• Providing accurate medication reconciliation for admitted patients
• Educating the interdisciplinary team on drug therapy
• Presenting various journal clubs, case presentations, and in-services

Other responsibilities include:

• Completion of a major research project that is presented at the Alcalde Southwest Leadership conference
• Completion of a medication utilization evaluation that is presented at the ASHP mid-year clinical meeting
• Obtainment of preceptor license from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
• Obtainment of a teaching certificate through University of North Texas College of Pharmacy program

As a pharmacy resident, in addition to rotation responsibilities, you are afforded the opportunity to be a member of the hospital's pharmacy staff and serve as a pharmacist in the department. Additionally, residents will have the opportunity to be involved with various hospital committees including, but not limited to, Antimicrobial Stewardship committee, Opioid Stewardship Committee, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and other Quality & Safety committees.

Application Process

In order to be considered for the residency program at Methodist Richardson Medical Center, you must complete each of the following steps:

• Register for the ASHP Resident Matching Program
• Utilizing the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) submit the following:
  • Current curriculum vitae
  • Letter of intent
  • Three references (Please have references complete the PhORCAS reference template)
  • An official copy of the college of pharmacy transcript

All application materials must be submitted via the PhORCAS application portal. Please visit the PhORCAS site for application deadline.

• Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy
• Texas pharmacy intern license at the start of residency
• Full eligibility for Texas licensure
• Eligibility for employment at Methodist Richardson Medical Center
• Participation in the residency matching program
• On-site interview
