About Shady Grove Medical Center
Shady Grove Medical Center is a 444-bed, not-for-profit, community hospital in Rockville, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C. We are the flagship acute-care hospital in the Adventist HealthCare (AHC) system, a faith-based organization serving Maryland and the Washington, D.C. metro area since 1907. The AHC system currently includes three acute care hospitals, a rehabilitation hospital, a stand-alone emergency department, urgent care centers, outpatient services, home health care, and more. Adventist HealthCare has a long history of award-winning care and commitment to supporting physical, mental, and spiritual healing for total well-being. In 2021 and 2023, The Washington Post recognized AHC as one of the Top Workplaces in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Out of about 200 honored employers, we are the only healthcare organization that made the list both years! Additionally, Forbes ranked AHC as one of America's Best-In-State Employers in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
Shady Grove Medical Center is locally and nationally recognized for our high quality, compassionate care. We have earned national recognition for stroke and cardiac care, comprehensive cancer care, vascular services, and surgical services including joint replacement. Our emergency department is among the busiest in the state and includes adult, pediatric, psychiatric, and fast-track treatment units, as well as serving as the regional hub for forensic care. We are home to robust maternity services and a Level III Neonatal ICU. We also provide broad inpatient and outpatient behavioral health care for adults and children.
