The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency is designed to develop a health care practitioner with advanced skills in various practice settings. Baystate Health is a not-for-profit, integrated healthcare system serving over 800,000 people throughout Western New England. It includes 4 hospitals, 3 health centers, 11 primary care offices, and specialty practices across the region. The resident will be responsible for making pharmacotherapy decisions, adjusting medications, educating patients, and assisting with precepting residents and students throughout the year. Goals for the program include developing the residents clinical skills to implement evidence-based care in a variety of practice settings, implement a collaborative practice model, demonstrate excellence in teaching and excellent in practice improvement.
The PGY2 program has a significant academic focus in addition to skills learned at the clinic sites. Residents will work with faculty member(s) from Western New England University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences to develop and deliver didactic teaching along with opportunities to help in other areas of the college. Experience can be tailored to resident’s interest.
Applications must be submitted through PhoRCAS. All PhoRCAS applications must include the following: College of Pharmacy transcript, 3 references completed using the PhoRCAS reference form, Letter of Intent, and Curriculum Vitae. The requirements for acceptance include: eligibility for pharmacist licensure in Massachusetts, anticipated completion of ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency, PharmD degree, and application submission by deadline.
Baystate Medical Center (BMC) in Springfield, Massachusetts is an independent academic medical center and the regional campus of the University of Massachusetts Medical School- Baystate.
