The Baystate Medical Center PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency Program purpose is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. The goal of the PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency is to provide a broad range of experiences within infectious diseases, antimicrobial stewardship, and academia through affiliation with Western New England University (WNEU). This residency prepares practitioners to pursue specialty and general positions within infectious diseases pharmacy and/or academia. The experience will include rounds with the infectious diseases teams, participation in the regional antimicrobial stewardship committee, didactic lecturing and lab-based instruction at WNEU, approval of restricted anti-infectives, and collaboration with the microbiology department. Residents will also be offered the opportunity to achieve a teaching certificate.
Applications must be submitted through PhoRCAS. All PhoRCAS applications must include the following: College of Pharmacy transcript, 3 references completed using the PhoRCAS reference form, Letter of Intent, and Curriculum Vitae. The requirements for acceptance include: eligibility for pharmacist licensure in Massachusetts, anticipated completion of ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency, PharmD degree, and application submission by deadline.
Baystate Medical Center (BMC) in Springfield, Massachusetts is an independent academic medical center and the regional campus of the University of Massachusetts Medical School- Baystate. BMC is a 780-bed facility and serves as the region's only Level 1 trauma center and pediatric trauma center. BMC is a major referral hospital, providing the highest level of care for oncology, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, neurology, gastroenterology and other disease states.
