The mission of the Monument Health Rapid City Hospital PGY1 Residency Program is to develop capable, confident, and independent pharmacists through impactful learning experiences led by preceptors that challenge, inspire, and support residents.

Our PGY1 residency program offers a strong foundation of core rotations complemented by a wide variety of electives, ensuring a well-rounded clinical experience. Residents may pursue a teaching certificate and/or leadership certificate, with opportunities for publication and multiple presentations. Program highlights include:

• Every third weekend staffing in both decentralized and centralized roles
• Four weeks of project time dispersed throughout the year.

Our site offers PGY2 residency programs specializing in critical care and oncology.

• Acute care track (3 positions)

The ambulatory care track is designed for residents passionate about outpatient and chronic disease management, offering enhanced ambulatory care rotation options while maintaining a strong acute care foundation.

• Pediatrics/neonatology
• Drug information (longitudinal)
• HIV clinic (longitudinal)
• Management (longitudinal)

• Antimicrobial stewardship or ID (if not completed)
• Cardiology (ambulatory care)
• Cardiology (inpatient)
• Emergency medicine
• Endocrinology
• Evening ICU
• Family medicine ambulatory care
• Home infusion/home care
• Internal medicine II
• Medication safety
• Nephrology
• Nuclear
• Oncology
• Psychiatry
• Specialty pharmacy
• Surgical ICU/OR
• Teaching certificate (longitudinal)
