Residency Showcase Program Listings

The Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside PGY1 residency program is designed to develop advanced knowledge and skills for pharmacy clinicians to practice independently and to excel in clinical service, teaching, and research in the adult acute care setting. Required rotations include Internal Medicine I and II, Infectious Disease, Critical Care, Pharmacy Management, and Therapeutic Drug Policy. The resident will build the remainder of their schedule with 20 weeks of electives among the following rotations: Antibiotic Stewardship, Cardiology, Critical Care II, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Oncology, Parenteral Nutrition, Perioperative Services, Quality Management, and Sterile Products. Additional potential electives at other area facilities include Pediatrics, Population Health, Psychiatry, and Transitions of Care. Longitudinal components of the residency program include pharmacy education, leadership, quality management, therapeutic drug policy, pharmacy practice, and research. Residents present a Pharmacy Grand Rounds and pharmacy technician continuing education program.  They also participate in weekly resident meetings, complete quarterly community service projects, teach outpatient patient classes, and precept pharmacy students. The residents present posters at ASHP Midyear and present their research at the Florida Residency Conference (FRC) and Ascension Virtual Residency Conference (VRC).  Participation in a teaching certificate program is optional.
