The UK St. Claire PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program has over 35 years of experience in developing competent pharmacists in a community hospital environment. The resident is trained in a variety of core rotational and longitudinal learning experiences including internal medicine, surgery, critical care, infectious diseases, ambulatory care, informatics, and pharmacy practice management. Electives include oncology, behavioral health, pain management/hospice care, emergency care, geriatrics, and others. Additional activities include research project, poster presentations, regional conference presentation, publication, and teaching certification.
UK St. Claire is a regional referral center in northeastern Kentucky serving a population of over 160,000 with inpatient services, medical and surgical specialty clinics, family medicine clinics, and home health/hospice services. UKSC is an established training site for various physician residency programs and healthcare disciplines. Pharmacists function as integral members of the healthcare team providing a wide array of services and take personal interest in the training of the residents in order to develop confident leaders for the future.
