Residency Showcase Program Listings

The PGY2 Internal Medicine Pharmacy Residency at Bon Secours St. Francis Downtown offers a variety of internal medicine experiences, including rounding with our internal medicine medical residents, hospitalist medicine, critical care, ambulatory care, infectious diseases, cardiology, and oncology. They will have a variety of teaching experiences with the option to complete a teaching certificate program. Residents who successfully complete the program are prepared to successfully practice as an internal medicine pharmacy specialist or subspecialist in an area of interest as an integral member of an interprofessional health care team.

Rotation Schedule

Required learning experiences:

• Internal Medicine I
  • Graduate Medical Education (GME) Rounding – 4 weeks
  • Hospitalist Medicine – 4 weeks
• Internal Medicine II
  • Precepting – 4 weeks
  • GME Rounding – 4 weeks
• Infectious Disease – 6 weeks
• Critical Care – 6 weeks
• Ambulatory Care – 4 weeks
• Advanced Administration – 2 weeks
• Community Hospital – 4 weeks

Required longitudinal learning experiences:

• Major Project
• Staffing
• Medication Use
• Administration and Leadership

Electives

• Oncology
• Antimicrobial Stewardship
• Cardiology
• Emergency Medicine
• Academia
• Teaching and Learning Certificate program

• 3 references using the PhORCAS standardized form. One should be from your current RPD.
• Letter of intent
  • Please describe how this residency aligns with your personal and professional goals
  • Utilize this space to include additional information not represented on your other application materials
  • This should be a single spaced, 1-page letter with 1-inch margins in 11-point font

Candidates must:

• Have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy 
• Be eligible for licensure in the state of South Carolina 
• Be enrolled in or previously completed an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency
