The purpose of West Kendall’s residency program is to develop a well-rounded pharmacist competent in providing clinical services as well as drug distribution who can practice confidently in a community hospital or continue to a PGY2 program for specialized training. The pharmacy practice residency at West Kendall is a 52-week training program designed to provide a broad foundation for an integrated pharmacy practice in the community hospital setting. The program aims to enhance the resident’s competencies in managing medication-use systems and optimizing drug therapy. The Clinical Pharmacy Manager serves as the Residency Program Director. The residency preceptors and mentors are comprised of the clinical pharmacists, clinical specialists, managers and the director of pharmacy. The program is designed to foster professional growth and independence while providing mentorship and supervision.
Candidates must possess a Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy and Florida licensure (or eligible). Residency candidates must submit a Curriculum Vitae, official transcripts, a letter of intent, and three letters of recommendation using the standard reference recommendation forms in PhORCAS™. Candidates must participate in the Resident Matching Program.
