The PGY2 ambulatory care residency program is a 52-week program intended to increase residents’ depth of knowledge, skills, attitudes and level of expertise in medication therapy management and clinical leadership.
The intent of this program is not only to prepare pharmacists to be proficient as clinicians, but to also give them the foundation to pass the board-certified ambulatory care pharmacist (BCACP) examination.
Pharmacists completing this residency will exhibit a thorough knowledge base and corresponding skills required to function independently in the ambulatory care setting. They will be effective, confident and well-informed practitioners who will be capable of providing evidence-based care to ambulatory patients. The focus of the program is direct patient care and clinical practice, involving experiences with an interdisciplinary ambulatory care team in primary care, cardiology, endocrinology and oncology specialty environments.
Candidates for this residency must possess a Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy and Florida licensure (or eligible); in addition, they must have successfully completed an ASHP accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency (certificate required). Applicants are required to submit the following documents: a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, official transcripts, and three letters of recommendation from professional references utilizing standard form required by PhORCAS™. Candidates must participate in the Resident Matching Program.
