Residency Special Features:This residency is designed to prepare a pharmacist for a career in clinical pharmacy in a community hospital. The resident will work directly with pharmacist preceptors to support optimal drug therapy and educate health care professionals. Practice management will be emphasized to help the resident develop skills in leadership, budget development and medication management. The resident will learn to precept students under the guidance of the residency director. A research project is required.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:Candidates must have a PharmD degree and be eligible for licensure in Missouri by the start of the residency. Application must include a current CV, academic transcript, three letters of recommendation, and a letter of intent. Mercy is not able to sponsor any visas for pharmacy residents, applicants must be a U.S. citizen or hold a Permanent Resident (Green) Card. As a condition of employment, all personnel must receive a complete dosing regimen of one of the COVID-19 vaccines currently authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or possess a Mercy-approved exemption.

Site Special Features:Mercy offers a unique learning experience in a tertiary care community hospital which is a referral center for regional hospitals, a Level 1 trauma center for adult and pediatric patients, a regional burn unit, a St. Jude affiliate and contains a Children's Hospital within the hospital. Required rotations include infectious diseases, critical care, internal medicine, and longitudinal rotations in pharmacy leadership, pharmacokinetics, clinical research, and teaching & learning.

Education: Requires a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy. Licensure: Missouri Pharmacy licensure eligible Experience: None. Certifications: Will obtain Missouri Medication Therapy Services (MTS) certification. Other: Must be attentive to detail and accurate in work. Must be able to communicate in an effective and appropriate manner with others. Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills are required. A caring, friendly and professional approach is expected in all communication with patients, families, visitors and other employees. Flexibility to adjust to changing conditions and details of the job is necessary. Must complete departmental orientation requirements and any age specific competencies within the first 3 months of employment.
