Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is ranked among the Best Children's Hospitals in the nation by the U.S. News & World Report's 2024-25 Honor Roll. Our hospital is nationally ranked in 11 pediatric specialties, including: pediatric cardiology & heart surgery, pediatric gastroenterology & GI surgery, neonatology, and pediatric cancer, to name a few.
The hospital is offering a PGY-1 general pharmacy practice residency in a free-standing pediatric facility to 2 qualified candidates. While the emphasis is on pediatrics, it is important to note that this is not a pediatric specialty residency.
We offer the following core rotations: Training/Orientation, General Pediatrics, Pediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, Infectious Diseases, Hematology/Oncology, Management, & Teaching. We offer elective rotation options in Cardiac ICU, Stem Cell Transplant, Solid Organ Transplant, GI/Kidney, or Pharmacogenomics. In addition to these rotations, we include longitudinal experiences in Staffing and Research.
STAFFING COMPONENT: The staffing component is anticipated to be every other weekend staffing in the main pharmacy or cleanroom. There will also be two additional weeks of staffing during the year.

ADDITIONAL LEARNING: The resident should anticipate, at a minimum, the following learning opportunities: year-long research project, ACPE-accredited CE program, ASHP poster presentation, drug monograph, drug use evaluation, Medication Safety committee participation, Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee participation, presentations to hospital and pharmacy staff, PPA conference presentation, Emergency Code Coverage program, and more.
The candidate must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited school or college and be currently licensed in Illinois or be eligible for Illinois licensure.
