Montefiore Medical Center is currently offering a PGY-2 pharmacy residency program in infectious diseases (ID). The program builds upon the Doctor of Pharmacy education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to develop clinical pharmacy specialists with the expertise and clinical aptitude for practice as infectious diseases clinicians, antimicrobial stewards, and effective educators.
Purpose
The PGY2 ID pharmacy residency program provides advanced clinical, research, and teaching experiences in various aspect of infectious diseases through a variety of clinical rotations and interactions with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. The curriculum is designed according to the American Society of Health-system pharmacists standard and align with the content of Board of Pharmacy Specialties exam in infectious diseases. Upon completion of the training program, the resident will be equipped to pursue a career as an infectious diseases clinical specialist and obtain board certification in infectious diseases pharmacotherapy.
Description
The PGY2 ID pharmacy residency program is a 12-month structured training program with the focus on infectious diseases. The program consists of core and elective learning experiences delivered longitudinally or four-week blocks throughout the residency. The PGY2 resident will develop understanding and skills in infectious diseases pharmacotherapy through participation in the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and clinical activities with the Infectious Diseases consult services.
The PGY2 resident will also engage in research and performance improvement projects. He or she will gain skills in adhering to a research timeline, creating an appropriate study design and methodology, completing data collection and analysis, and publishing research findings.
In addition, the resident will build on his or her practice management and leadership skills through administrative functions. The resident will also have multiple opportunities to precept and teach pharmacy residents and/or students partake in educational activities.

Once the application requirements are received and reviewed, the applicant will be considered for an on-site interview. The applicant will be required to complete a patient case write up and a 30-minute platform PowerPoint presentation during the interview process.
