The purpose of this PGY1residency program is to build upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop community-based pharmacist practitioners with diverse patient care, leadership, and education skills who are eligible to pursue advanced training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies and professional certifications.

About Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin
Froedtert Hospital, the academic medical center of the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network, has 776 beds and is a leading referral resource for advanced medical care. Froedtert Hospital also operates the region’s only adult Level I Trauma Center. The primary adult teaching affiliate of MCW, Froedtert Hospital is a major training facility for more than 1,000 medical, nursing and health technical students annually. The Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network is a partnership between Froedtert Health and the Medical College of Wisconsin supporting a shared mission of patient care, innovation, medical research and education. Our health network operates eastern Wisconsin’s only academic medical center and adult Level I Trauma Center at Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee, an internationally recognized training and research center engaged in thousands of clinical trials and studies. The Froedtert & MCW health network, which includes 10 hospital locations, more than 2,400
physicians and more than 45 health centers and clinics..., draws patients from throughout the Midwest and the nation. In our most recent fiscal year, outpatient visits were more than 1.7 million, inpatient admissions to our hospitals exceeded 60,000 and visits to our network physicians totaled more than 1.37 million.
In addition to Froedtert Hospital, the network includes Froedtert Bluemound Rehabilitation Hospital, Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital, Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, Froedtert West Bend Hospital and Froedtert Community Hospital with locations in Mequon, New Berlin, Oak Creek and Pewaukee. The health network represents the collaboration of Wisconsin’s largest multispecialty physician practice with two community-based physician groups. In 2017, an existing affiliation with the former United Hospital System was expanded to include what is now known as Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital and related clinics in the network. In 2024, Froedtert Health and ThedaCare became one organization, making it possible for the health network to enhance access to care for more people in Wisconsin.

Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin is home to an established and large pharmacy residency program. PGY1 positions are available in acute care focus (12 residents), ambulatory care focus (4 residents), PGY1 community-based (1 resident), PGY1/PGY2 Health-system Pharmacy and Leadership (4 residents), PGY1/PGY2 Medication Use Safety and Policy (4 residents), PGY1&2 Pharmacy Informatics (2 resident). Additionally, three PGY1 resident positions are available at Froedtert Menomonee Falls, one of Froedtert's affiliated community hospitals.
PGY2 positions are available in a variety of specialties including ambulatory care (3 residents), critical care (2 residents), emergency medicine (2 residents), infectious diseases (1 resident), oncology (4 residents), thrombosis and hemostasis management (NEW - 1 resident).
