The purpose of this PGY2 pharmacy residency program is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available.

This specialty program is designed to provide advanced clinical training, leadership opportunities and extensive research experience within the critical care setting. Residents will work with a diverse and dedicated critical care preceptor team, who have many years of experience training PGY1 and PGY2 residents.

• • Froedtert Hospital is a 766-bed academic medical center with 107 dedicated ICU beds.
  • Research projects and teaching activities are tailored to meet the needs/interests of the resident. Grant submissions are encouraged.
  • Residents will have the opportunity to precept residents and APPE students on clinical rotations.
  • ACLS, PALS, Fundamentals in Critical Care Support and Basic Disaster Life Support training will be provided.
  • External presentations and publications are encouraged.
  • Research Certificate unless otherwise completed

• Applicants are required to submit a program application through PhORCAS. Please follow the application instructions.
• Three letters of recommendation, with at least one letter from a PGY1 critical care rotational preceptor that can comment on your ability to work with peers and communicate effectively, clinical problem solving skills, and ability to accept constructive criticism
• In lieu of a letter of intent, please briefly answer the following questions:

  2. What experiences you have had in critical care so far, and why you will benefit for completing a PGY2 in critical care?
  3. Please answer the following about your PGY1 program (or current employer):

PGY1 positions are available in acute care focus (12 residents), ambulatory care focus (4 residents), PGY1 community-based (1 resident), PGY1/PGY2 Health-system Pharmacy and Leadership (4 residents), PGY1/PGY2 Medication Use Safety and Policy (4 residents), PGY1&2 Pharmacy Informatics (2 resident). Additionally, three PGY1 resident positions are available at Froedtert Menomonee Falls, one of Froedtert's affiliated community hospitals. PGY2 positions are available in a variety of specialties including ambulatory care (3 residents), critical care (2 residents), emergency medicine (2 residents), infectious diseases (1 resident), oncology (4 residents), thrombosis and hemostasis management (NEW - 1 resident).
