This specialized residency provides comprehensive experiences in oncology pharmacy practice. Experiences include providing pharmaceutical care to inpatient and outpatient (adult and pediatric) hematology/oncology patients, investigational drug services, palliative care, and a variety of elective rotations including Pediatric Oncology and Specialty Pharmacy. Teaching opportunities include didactic and small-group problem-based teaching at the University of Rhode Island, College of Pharmacy. The resident will be directed in skills critical to patient care, communication and leadership within a multi-disciplinary health care team. Research project required.
The purpose of the Rhode Island Hospital/University of Rhode Island PGY-2 oncology pharmacy residency program is to prepare graduates to function independently as clinical pharmacy specialists with the qualifications needed for acute and ambulatory positions in oncology pharmacy, as well as adjunct or non-tenure track faculty appointments. Finally, the graduate will be prepared for board certification in Oncology Pharmacy.
PharmD or BS degree from an accredited school/college of pharmacy
