SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - St. Louis is a community teaching facility with physician teaching programs in internal medicine, family medicine, and OB-GYN. The hospital offers a wide variety of services including, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, psychiatry, orthopedics, high-risk obstetrics, senior services, hemodialysis, an IV infusion center, and a clinic that serves the underserved. The hospital also has a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit and is a part of the SSM Glennon Care for Kids.
This residency program is a 12-month ASHP accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency that focuses on developing the resident's clinical knowledge through exposure to a variety of practice settings. Required clinical rotations include: orientation, internal medicine, critical care, cardiology, surgery, precepting, management, and ambulatory care experiences. There are a variety of elective rotations which include but are not limited to: advance experiences in any of the core rotations, academia, emergency medicine, infectious diseases, neonatal intensive care, and obstetrics. The resident will also gain exposure to Pyxis technology, committee initiatives and gain expertise in educating patients, health care professionals, and the community on drug related topics. The program includes participation in a formal teaching certificate program. We offer 4 positions each year.
Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy, Pharm.D. preferred, must be eligible for Missouri licensure, and submit current curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, transcript, and letter of intent. Letter of intent should include: (1) why you want to complete a residency at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital, (2) what you hope to gain from residency training, (3) your future career goals, and (4) any other information you feel that we should consider while reviewing your application.
