This residency program is a training opportunity for pharmacists to enhance their skill set in the community pharmacy setting with a focus on complex specialty disease states. Graduates will possess the necessary skills needed to secure positions in the following areas: specialty pharmacy, ambulatory care practice settings, management opportunities, and academia.
The residency program is conducted across three Walgreens Specialty Pharmacies and two ambulatory care clinics in Indianapolis, IN. These locations offer a variety of innovative clinical pharmacy services to patients who are prescribed complex therapies. At these sites, the resident will work closely with providers and patients to provide affordable specialty drug therapies for patients. Additionally, residents participate and serve patients through community outreach. Other experiences include developing leaderships skills through being involved with practice management/advancement. Lastly, the resident gains experience in the delivery of clinical services, conducting research, precepting students, and participating in a teaching certification program.
Residency Activities
Disease state management programs such as oncology, chronic inflammatory diseases, hepatitis C, HIV, transplant, and others with Limited Distribution Drug (LDD) therapies
Ambulatory care clinic rotations
Volunteer at an underserved ambulatory care clinic
Medication Therapy Management services

Design and conduct a patient centered business plan
Complete a Teaching Certificate Program
Serve as a preceptor to pharmacy students

Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a college or school of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education
