Residency Showcase Program Listings

The residency experience is based in Phoenix, Arizona at a URAC accredited Walgreens specialty pharmacy that is an innovative community pharmacy practice dedicated to providing clinical patient care services and is an ideal setting for the development of patient care programs. Residents in this setting will have a direct influence on patient outcomes through participation in patient counseling, immunization services, and medication therapy management. The resident will be involved in management of limited distribution medication and required clinical documentation.

The residency is academically affiliated and financially supported, in part, by Midwestern University College of Pharmacy-Glendale. The resident will actively participate in teaching and precepting experiences at the College.

Residency Activities

• Direct patient care delivered in both community pharmacy settings and a primary care clinic
• Public health activities: community outreach programs
• Development of collaborative program to improve adherence and/or outcomes
• Medication therapy management
• Disease state management programs
• Provide health testing services
• Administer immunizations
• Develop or enhance existing patient care programs
• Complete a Teaching Certificate Program
• Provide clinical instruction and serve as a preceptor to student pharmacists
• Design and conduct a practice based research project
• Present research project findings at appropriate regional and national professional conferences

Candidate Requirements

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a college or school of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education
• Arizona pharmacist license within 90 days of the start of the residency program

• Curriculum Vitae
• Three professional letters of recommendation
• Official university transcripts
• Letter of intent (explain reason for pursuing a community pharmacy residency and what you hope to gain from the program)
• On-site interview (upon invitation)
• Presentation at on-site interview (topic related to community pharmacy)
• Registered with the National Matching Services (NMS)

Application Process

A completed application and all accompanying materials must be submitted no later than January 12th for candidates to be considered for the program.
