Residency Showcase Program Listings

This residency program is a training opportunity for pharmacists to enhance their skill set in the community pharmacy setting with a focus on complex specialty disease states. Graduates will possess the necessary skills needed to secure positions in the following areas: specialty pharmacy, ambulatory care practice settings, management opportunities, and academia.

The residency program is conducted across three Walgreens Specialty Pharmacies and two ambulatory care clinics in Indianapolis, IN. These locations offer a variety of innovative clinical pharmacy services to patients who are prescribed complex therapies. At these sites, the resident will work closely with providers and patients to provide affordable specialty drug therapies for patients. Additionally, residents participate and serve patients through community outreach. Other experiences include developing leaderships skills through being involved with practice management/advancement. Lastly, the resident gains experience in the delivery of clinical services, conducting research, precepting students, and participating in a teaching certification program.

Residency Activities

• Disease state management programs in oncology, chronic inflammatory diseases, HCV, HIV, transplant, & others with Limited Distribution Drug (LDD) therapies
• Ambulatory care clinic rotations
• Volunteer in an underserved ambulatory care clinic
• Medication therapy management services
• Community outreach supporting public health
• Pharmacist administered immunizations
• Develop management and medication distribution skill set
• Design and conduct a patient centered business plan
• Complete a Teaching Certificate Program
• Serve as a preceptor to pharmacy students
• Design and conduct a practice based research project
• Present research project findings at a professional conference

Candidate Requirements

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a college or school of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education
• Completed on-line application at https://www.jobs.walgreens.com
• Indiana Pharmacist license within 90 days of the start of the residency program
• Submission of residency application materials to Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS)
• Curriculum Vitae
• Three professional letters of recommendation
• Official university transcripts
• Letter of intent explaining why your are pursuing a community pharmacy residency and what you hope to gain from the residency program
• On-site interview (upon invitation)
• Registered with the National Matching Service (NMS).

Application Process

A completed application and all accompanying materials must be submitted no later than January 10th for candidates to be considered for the program.
