MLH - Germantown Hospital is a community, 319-bed acute care facility that provides a wide array of services including a renowned obstetrics & maternity program with a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, comprehensive cardiac services, complete surgical services, and a busy Emergency Department. Germantown is a suburb of Memphis, TN, located approximately 30 minutes east of downtown Memphis. The hospital features emergency services operated under the standards of Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital as well. At Methodist Germantown, several of our specialty care programs have received national recognition. Our cardiology program holds American College of Cardiology Chest (ACC) Pain Center accreditations in electrophysiology and percutaneous coronary intervention. They also have been recognized as a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center and has received the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence from ACC. Germantown is also a certified stroke center, being recently awarded the Stroke Gold Plus, Target Honor Roll Stroke Elite Plus by the American Heart Association. Other specialty programs receiving national recognition include our bariatric surgery and hip and knee replacements as a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center. Our bariatric surgery program is also a Cigna Center of Excellence and is accredited as a Comprehensive Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.The Women’s & Children’s Pavilion is the first LEED Certified Hospital in Tennessee & earned Leadership in Energy Efficient Design Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council, which encourages green sustainable design.

The Pharmacy Department at Methodist Healthcare - Germantown Hospital consists of 82 associates: including 26 clinical pharmacists, 12 clinical specialists, & 35 pharmacy technicians. The pharmacy practice model integrates centralized & decentralized services to evaluate medication orders, perform profile review & home medication reconciliation, assure prompt turn-around of medications & ensure the most effective medication therapy for every patient. Clinical specialists & clinical pharmacists serve as resource personnel in the areas of internal medicine, critical care, cardiology, transitions of care, nutrition support, oncology, neonatal intensive care, anticoagulation, surgical care, & emergency. Recently the pharmacy department has gained an expanded scope of practice within the Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, and Internal Medicine realm. These pharmacists are responsible for clinical activities, including consulting for medication therapy management & education, working with private physicians, & rounding with our hospitalists & ICU teams for their unit population. Expanded scope consists of electrolyte management, glycemic control, bedside support, fluid management among other activities. Our pharmacists also educate pharmacy students from the University of Tennessee & Union University, pharmacy residents, staff & other health professionals.

1. Graduate from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program.
2. Participate in and adhere to the rules of the Resident Matching Program process.
3. Begin the residency program on or about July 1.
4. Obtain licensure in Tennessee within 90 days of beginning the residency program

Methodist Germantown Hospital offers an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency. The program accepts 2 residents annually. The purpose of the program is to provide the resident with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes required to become a competent pharmacy practitioner.
