UMass Memorial Health—HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital is a 138-bed not-for-profit, full service, acute care community hospital which serves the communities in North Central Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. The HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital system includes services on three campuses in Clinton, Fitchburg, and Leominster, and is part of UMass Memorial Health Care, the largest health care system in Central Massachusetts.
UMass Memorial Health—HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is accredited by the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists.
The PGY1 pharmacy resident will have the opportunity to rotate through a variety of patient care settings at our multiple campuses including internal medicine, critical care, oncology, transitions of care, and family medicine. Residents will also gain experience in anticoagulation, antimicrobial stewardship, practice management, and medication safety.
Throughout the residency year, the resident will staff one day or night shift a week, every third weekend, and be responsible for at-home call on average 3 nights per month. The resident will participate in code blue and inpatient code stroke response. The resident will also have the opportunity to develop communication and teaching skills through providing formal presentations, co-precepting pharmacy students, and completing an optional teaching and learning program.
Following PGY1 residency training, our resident will be prepared to seek board certification and will be eligible to apply for PGY2 residency training and to work as a clinical pharmacist in a community hospital setting.
