The PGY2 Ambulatory Care resident at the UAMS College of Pharmacy in Little Rock will gain experience managing various chronic disease states and be exposed to a variety of practice types, including interdisciplinary team-based care, collaborative practice, and indigent care. Additionally, the resident will complete the UAMS College of Pharmacy Teaching Certificate Program and be involved in the education of Pharm.D. students, medical students, pharmacy practice residents, and resident physicians. The resident will also complete the UAMS Research Certificate Program.
Required longitudinal rotations run from September through March and include family medicine, internal medicine, geriatrics, and free health clinics, as well as a management experience. Elective rotations are month long blocks; resident may select three elective blocks. The resident may choose from academia, HIV specialty, infectious disease, outpatient hematology/oncology, hepatology, women's health, med-peds, and VA Patient Aligned Care Team. Additional electives may be developed based on resident interest and preceptor availability.
Applicants must have obtained a degree in pharmacy from an American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)-accredited college or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the NABP. Candidates must have completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 program or be in the process of completion. Applicants in a program with ASHP-candidate status may also be considered. Candidates must also be eligible for licensure in the state of Arkansas.
