Acute Care PGY1
The PGY-1 residency program at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances is designed to enhance and strengthen the resident’s clinical skills and knowledge of the practice of pharmacy. A high priority is placed on teaching evidence-based care and preparing residents for the opportunities available to PGY-1 graduates.
The program has been accredited since 2009. It has 15 preceptors that are intimately involved in the program as well as other pharmacists that work with the residents throughout the year.
Inpatient clinical pharmacist duties and services include: interdisciplinary patient care rounds, pharmacokinetic dosing, antimicrobial stewardship, anticoagulation management, therapeutic substitution, IV to PO conversion, renal dosing, code response, TPN dosing, and patient counseling.
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is conducted at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler, a not-for-profit community health system in East Texas. • 48 Tyler region clinics • 550-bed acute-care hospital • Level II trauma center - 56-bed emergency department - Two rooftop helipads • 36-bed level III neonatal ICU • Strong critical care presence - 24-bed medical surgical ICU - 23-bed neuro ICU - 24-bed cardiothoracic ICU - 24-bed intermediate care/ICU
AmCare Focus PGY1
The PGY-1 AmCare Focus residency program at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances is designed to enhance and strengthen the resident’s clinical skills and knowledge of the practice of pharmacy. Through a curriculum centered on evidence-based care and experience in diverse ambulatory care settings, residents build the skills to create meaningful connections and provide high quality care for the communities they serve. A high priority is placed on teaching evidence-based care and preparing residents for the opportunities available to PGY-1 graduates.
Our ambulatory clinic services include medication therapy management for diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia, anticoagulation management, rheumatology, specialty pharmacy, patient counseling, and ambulatory clinic audits.
All application material submitted through PhORCAS • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy • Eligible for licensure with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy - All licensing tests must be attempted no later than June 19, 2026 • Official college(s) of pharmacy transcript(s) • Letter of intent • Curriculum vitae - Include completed and anticipated advanced pharmacy practice experiences • Three letters of recommendation - Direct patient care APPE preceptors recommended • GPA ≥ 3.0 • Selected applicants will be interviewed
