Program Purpose
The Brown University Health Specialty Pharmacy PGY-1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program builds upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education to develop pharmacist practitioners with advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities as outlined in ASHP’s educational competency areas, goals, and objectives.
Graduates of this program will be prepared to:
Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across diverse settings
Demonstrate leadership in practice management and education
Pursue board certification
Continue advanced training through PGY-2 residencies or other postgraduate opportunities
Program Highlights
This residency offers extensive opportunities to develop as a well-rounded leader in specialty drug management and patient education.
Key features include:
Practice within a health-system specialty pharmacy integrated into multiple outpatient specialty clinics
Focus areas: inflammatory conditions, oncology/hematology, pulmonary diseases, and transplant
Longitudinal experiences in:
Practice management

Eligibility
Applicants must:
Hold a PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited program
Be licensed or eligible for licensure in Rhode Island
Participate in the ASHP Residency Matching Program
