The University of Chicago Medicine is currently seeking ambitious and committed individuals for our PGY-1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program, which is designed to provide extensive exposure to patient centered care, experiential teaching services, and pharmacy practice research.
The primary goal of this program is to develop residents into confident pharmacists who possess in-depth clinical knowledge and strong leadership in community and specialty pharmacy practice. Designed to provide a broad exposure to a variety of patient care and pharmacy operations experience, our program emphasizes the development of skills in outpatient pharmacy operations, clinical specialty pharmacy services, patient centered care, clinical and didactic teaching, research methodology, and pharmacy management. Great importance is placed on the individual goals and expectations of the resident. Likewise, program experiences and assessments are continually refined to keep pace with the resident’s growth throughout the year.
Community pharmacy practice builds on clinical training in an ASHP Center of Excellence and experience in URAC-accredited pharmacies to develop skills in community pharmacy practice and management, ambulatory care, and specialty pharmacy practice. Resident responsibilities include working with pharmacy leadership teams to plan, develop and implement or evaluate new or existing professional services. The resident will develop medication therapy management skills across a range of ambulatory and specialty practice settings.
