The Pharmacy Practice Residency at Mary Washington Hospital is a one-year training program designed to strengthen the residents’ clinical, communication, and management skills in preparation for a continued career in hospital pharmacy, clinical pharmacy, or pharmacy management. Our focus is on transitioning residents from students of pharmacy to experienced pharmacists who provide exceptional patient care in an ever-changing profession. Our rotation offerings include but are not limited to Internal Medicine I and II, Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, Administration, Emergency Medicine, Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, Infectious Disease and Antimicrobial Stewardship, and Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Services. Residents will staff every third weekend, three holiday day shifts, and no on call. MWH has a medical residency program as well, and pharmacy residents will interact regularly with GME residents.
Requirements: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) obtained from an ACPE-accredited advanced pharmacy program (by start date), eligible for pharmacist licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia (licensed within 90 days after start date), academic transcript, curriculum vitae, 3 letters of recommendation, minimum 3.0 GPA

Mary Washington Healthcare is a non-profit system located in Fredericksburg, Virgina. MWHC provides inpatient and outpatient care via over 50 facilities, including a 451-bed regional medical center designated as a level II trauma center and level III NICU, a 120-bed community hospital, a free-standing emergency department, and a growing 54-bed inpatient mental health facility. We are also a Joint Commission certified Primary Stroke Center.
