The Medical Center at Bowling Green’s post-graduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency training program provides organized and directed clinical pharmacy training in a rapidly advancing academic medical environment. The program is designed to develop the knowledge and skills of the resident in various areas including: clinical pharmacy practice, medication therapy management, leadership, communication, practice management, critical thinking, time management, research, and teaching. The program offers the resident the opportunity, encouragement and support to develop his/her professional expertise as a practitioner.
Our pharmacists collaborate with other healthcare providers to optimize the delivery of pharmaceutical care by providing clinical and state of the art automated dispensing services to our patients. A distinct advantage of our program is that it offers the resident a more intimate and focused environment to develop their clinical skills in a place where everyone is invested in the success of the program.
Our residency program may be relatively new, but our ideals are not. We have a very strong and well-respected clinical pharmacy program. We are focused and fully committed to creating a top-notch residency experience. Our standards and expectations are as rigorous as the most well-established and distinguished programs.
Our clinical staff participate in rounding and collaboration in patient care with some of the area’s most distinguished attending physicians, medical students, residents, and fellows in various specialties. Our clinicians practice evidence-based medicine and strive to stay up to date to provide the best possible care for our patients.
Our pharmacists directly interact with patients and providers to address the needs of patients during transitions of care.
Our PGY-1 residency program is affiliated with the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

The Medical Center at Bowling Green, a 373-bed community-based academic medical center, is the flagship hospital for Med Center Health. Our organization includes six acute care hospitals, a long term acute care hospital, more than 30 clinics, a long term rehab and specialty care facility, and a community retail pharmacy. Med Center Health employs over 35 pharmacists and 600+ providers across 50 specialties.
