Program Description
The focus of MountainView Hospital’s PGY-1 pharmacy residency is to provide each resident with a broad range of pharmacy experiences tailored to meet each individual resident's needs and interests. This is accomplished through core learning experiences, at least one elective experience, and a variety of longitudinal experiences spanning the entire year. After completion, residents will be eligible for board certification and post-graduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
Purpose statement
The PGY-1 pharmacy residency program builds on a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and strives to help our residents achieve their full potential as clinicians and educators. The focus of MountainView Hospital’s PGY-1 pharmacy residency is to provide each resident with a broad range of pharmacy experiences tailored to meet each individual resident's needs and interests. This is accomplished through core learning experiences, at least one elective experience, and a variety of longitudinal experiences spanning the entire year. After completion, residents will be eligible for board certification and post-graduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
Pharmacy department
Residents will work alongside more than 30 professional and 23 non-professional staff in a decentralized model, and will be mentored by Board Certified preceptors in a variety of specialized practice areas.
Residents will be involved with the P&T process, receive ACLS training to join in the Code Blue response teams, and participate in the clinical pharmacist consult services. Clinical pharmacy services include managing aminoglycoside, vancomycin, warfarin, and TPN dosing/monitoring. They will be working with over 300 medical residents in ten specialties from the Sunrise Health System Graduate Medical Education Consortium.
