Residency Showcase Program Listings

This residency program is located within the Portland, Oregon metro area, a fast-growing metro area known for its diverse assortment of nationally-recognized restaurant and entertainment options. Portland is also known for its abundance of nearby recreational opportunities. Perhaps this is why Metro Portland contains the worldwide headquarters for Nike and Columbia Sportswear and the North American headquarters for Adidas.  

Oregon is known for its progressive pharmacy atmosphere. For example, it was the first state to successfully implement autonomous hormonal contraceptive prescribing by pharmacists in the nation. 

Each resident is assigned a home-base community pharmacy site where approximately 40% of time is spent. This community site, located in the Portland metro area, has
a dedicated team of experienced preceptors to mentor the resident through the year. The community practice site is also located near the division office where leadership and management learning experiences take place.

Through our partnership with Pacific University School of Pharmacy, our advanced community-based patient care learning experiences are supplemented with ambulatory care-based patient care at clinics affiliated with the university. In addition, the resident participates in a teaching certificate program, and performs research at the university.

Unique aspects of this program include the ability to practice pharmacy at a high level in community and ambulatory-based pharmacy in the progressive states of Oregon and Washington. Residents will enhance specialty medication knowledge at the HIV-focused community-practice site. Residents will develop and present practice-based research in collaboration with esteemed research faculty at the Pacific University School of Pharmacy. Residents will collaborate regularly with Albertsons Companies co-residents across the country and will also preceptor IPPE and APPE students from various colleges of pharmacy.

Pharm.D. degree and licensure in state of residency required. Official academic transcript, CV, letter of intent, and three letters of recommendation submitted to PhORCAS.
