This Safeway Pharmacy/UCSF Program is based in the San Francisco Bay Area near world class dining, music, entertainment, sports, and cultural amenities. California is also a leading state for the advancement of pharmacy practice, and pharmacists can administer and furnish a growing list of medications.
The resident is assigned to home-base community pharmacy sites where approximately 40% of time is spent. Community sites are located in the East Bay and have dedicated teams of experienced preceptors to mentor the resident through the year. Leadership and Management and Patient Care learning experiences will mostly take place at our division office in Pleasanton.
Our advanced community-based patient care learning experiences are supplemented with ambulatory care-based patient care at UCSF’s China Basin location in San Francisco. Through our partnership with UCSF School of Pharmacy, the resident participates in a teaching certificate program and performs research at the UCSF Parnassus Campus.
Unique aspects of this program revolve around pharmacists’ expanded scope of practice in CA, including administration of injectable drugs and biologics, as well as the opportunity to furnish hormonal contraception, nicotine replacement therapy, and naloxone.
PharmD degree and licensure in state of residency required. Official academic transcript, CV, letter of intent, and three letters of recommendation submitted to PhORCAS.
