St. Anthony’s Hospital PGY1 Pharmacy Residency
The pharmacy residency will provide a broad training experience in many areas of pharmacy practice, including critical care, emergency medicine, infectious disease, cardiology, internal medicine with multidisciplinary team rounding. Electives rotations include psychiatry, Oncology, Neurology, ambulatory transitions of care and advanced core rotations. The resident will have requirements to present a Poster at ASHP Mid-Year and final research presentations at the Florida Residency Conference. Residents will also be required to present Continuing Education, MUE, activity, and formulary monograph. The residents will also assist with teaching fourth year pharmacy rotations from affiliated colleges.
Program Summary
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at St. Anthony's Hospital (BayCare) is meticulously designed to align with ASHP accreditation standards, ensuring a robust and comprehensive training experience. The required competency areas, goals and objectives are the foundation of program design. The program is designed to provide 12 full, consecutive months of core training built upon four key competency areas: Patient Care, Practice Advancement, Leadership, and Teaching & Education. In addressing these competency areas, the PGY1 Pharmacy residency training is designed and anchored by Internal Medicine based rotation and Longitudinal Internal Medicine Rounding alternating with 5 weeks required specialty learning experiences such as Infectious disease, Administration, Internal Medicine. and Project Month. The required 6-week Core rotations will consist of Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, and Cardiology. The residency training schedule and sequence of the learning experiences are individualized and primarily based on the residents’ areas of interest and to assist in career advancement for PGY2. Our goal is to train well-rounded, proficient clinicians who are prepared for a variety of post-residency careers, including academia, acute care, or further PGY2 training.
Program Structure
The program has a two-week Orientation and then is anchored by a core Internal Medicine rotation, which alternates with specialized 5-week learning experiences in areas like Infectious Disease, Administration, and a dedicated Project Month.

How to Apply: Applicants must be a PharmD graduate or candidate of an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy and must be eligible for and obtain licensure in Florida by 90 days from start of the residency. The application deadline is January 10, 2026. All materials must be received by that date to ensure your application is considered.
