About Our Hospital

St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital is a 242-bed tertiary-care hospital recognized for patient excellence. It consistently receives "A" Hospital Safety Grades from the Leapfrog Group and is ranked No. 10 in the Houston Metro Area by US News & World Report. The hospital is High Performing in eight procedures/conditions, including kidney failure, COPD, heart arrhythmia, heart attack, heart failure, hip fracture, pneumonia, and stroke. It holds accreditations from the Joint Commission, and certifications as a Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center. Services include an advanced Heart & Vascular Center, Cancer Center, Level III NICU, Orthopedic, Women's, and Emergency services.

Program Overview

Our PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is designed to cultivate well-rounded clinicians through a comprehensive curriculum of diverse learning experiences. We offer two PGY1 pharmacy resident positions with a start date of July 1st annually (or the nearest Monday).

Application Requirements

Selected candidates will be invited for an onsite interview. All applications must be submitted online through the ASHP PhORCAS program. This will include a 15-minute presentation on a disease state management topic of your choice to a group of pharmacists. To be considered for our program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Graduated from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy with a Pharm.D. degree by the start of the residency year (July 1st annually).
• Texas pharmacist licensure in good standing within 90 days of the start of the residency.
• A strong academic record and demonstrated desire for professional accomplishment.

Required Application Materials:

• Letter of Intent:
• Cover letter with address
• Short-term and long-term career goals with at least two different specialty interests
• Motivation for completing a pharmacy residency program and how this program aligns with your career goals
• Description of activities, projects, and/or experiences that demonstrate skills in written/verbal communication, public speaking, time management, leadership, and any other relevant information
• Curriculum Vitae (CV):
• Include all completed and anticipated APPE rotations with brief descriptions (e.g., participation in rounds, responsibilities).
• If leadership positions are listed, provide brief descriptions of the role and impact.
• Three Letters of Recommendation
• Transcripts
