								<description>O&#39;Fallon, Illinois,  Established in 1875, HSHS St. Elizabeth&#8217;s Hospital is a community teaching hospital located in O&#8217;Fallon, Illinois, 15 miles from St. Louis, Missouri. St. Elizabeth&#8217;s Hospital serves over 40 different medical specialties and is the primary practice site for the St. Louis University Family Medicine Residency program. St. Elizabeth&#8217;s Hospital is a member of the Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS), a multi-institutional health care system that sponsors 15 hospitals that is based in Springfield, Illinois. 
 The HSHS St. Elizabeth&#8217;s Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program affiliated with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) School of Pharmacy is&#xa0;accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and offers&#xa0;two PGY-1 positions, one is a traditional 12-month program and one is in combination with the PGY-2 Pharmacy Informatics program and is a 24-month program.&#xa0; The PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program allows the residents flexibility in designing their activities to meet their interests, as described below.&#xa0; 
 The PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program allows the residents flexibility in designing their activities to meet their interests. Core rotations are comprised of Administration, Ambulatory Care, Critical Care, Distribution/Orientation, Internal Medicine and Advanced Internal Medicine, Pharmacy Informatics, and Medication Safety. More than ten elective opportunities are designed to develop advanced skills in a variety of areas and include, but are not limited to Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Infectious Disease, Oncology, Pain Management, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry. In addition, the program offers a Teaching Certificate in association with SIUE School of Pharmacy. Completion of a major research project suitable for publication is required along with a presentation at the Great Lakes Pharmacy Resident Conference. Application Requirements
