The residency begins with a 4-week orientation to the facility, the pharmacy department, and the residency program. Most other required rotations are also scheduled for the first half of the year, giving residents the opportunity to establish a solid foundation in the required areas before moving onto more specialty electives. If a resident is considering a PGY2 in a specialty area, however, arrangements to schedule that elective rotation prior to Midyear is prudent. Elective rotations can be scheduled for the end of the year or woven throughout the academic year, customized to each resident, and depending on their goals and interests
