PGY2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings.
PGY2 ambulatory care residents at Vivent Health have clinical experiences in the integrated medical home in the areas of: cardiology, endocrinology, infectious disease, and men's, women's and transgender health. Additional areas of clinical experience include gastroenterology, geriatrics, psychiatry, pulmonology and specialty pharmacy. Vivent Health residents participate in longitudinal experiences in the areas of administration, teaching and preceptorship, quality and research.
Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available. Applicants to the program are graduates of an accredited pharmacy degree program (or one in process of pursuing accreditation) or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee certificate from the NABP. Minimum 5-year pharmacy degree program is required. Additionally, the applicant is participating in or has completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency program or one in the ASHP accreditation process (candidate or preliminary accreditation status). Applicants must be eligible for Wisconsin pharmacist licensure.
Applicants need to complete and submit their application by January 5, 2022 on the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) website. The application should include:
