								<description>Royal Oak, Michigan,  Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak offers an ASHP-accredited twelve-month Infectious Diseases PGY2 Residency program for one residency candidate. Our program strives to meet the needs of the resident based on previous PGY1 residency experience, interests and individual goals. 
 This program provides a combination of required monthly and concurrent longitudinal learning experiences to provide a robust training program. An individual training plan is created for each resident. All residents complete a research project and present their study results at a regional residency conference in the Spring.&#xa0; 
 The PGY2 Infectious Diseases pharmacy residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in advanced or specialized practice. The PGY2 Infectious Diseases residency provides residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care that improves medication therapy. 
 The PGY2 Infectious Diseases Residency at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak provides the resident with training in diverse areas of infectious disease from four experienced clinical infectious diseases pharmacists. The resident will rotate through a number of core and elective rotations that serve to develop leadership skills and clinical expertise in Infectious Diseases pharmacotherapy. Participation in interdisciplinary committees, interactions with other healthcare providers, along with formal and informal presentations, will help strengthen the resident&#8217;s communication skills. The resident will gain teaching experience through student and resident preceptorship and didactic instruction

								<description>Austin, Texas,  Ascension Seton, in conjunction with The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, is offering an ASHP accredited Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency. Ascension Seton is a 12-hospital network in Austin and the surrounding Central Texas area. The primary base for the residency program is at Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas (a large tertiary care, academic institution and Level I trauma center), but residents have the opportunity to complete rotations at some of our community and our pediatric hospitals. The residency is designed to provide the resident with an intense, concentrated and diverse 12-month training program with a focus on antimicrobial stewardship and the clinical application of antimicrobial pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Required rotations include antimicrobial stewardship, infectious diseases consult service, HIV, pediatric infectious diseases, and adult critical care. Residents will also gain exposure to microbiology lab and infection prevention. Other rotations are available as electives. Requirements: 
 Participating in or completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency program or one in the ASHP accreditation process 
 Applicants to pharmacy residencies must be graduates or candidates for graduation of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited degree program (or one in process of pursuing accreditation) or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP).  The primary emphasis of the PGY-2 Infectious Disease (ID)&#xa0;Residency program at Grady Health System is to develop clinicians with expertise in pharmacotherapy of infectious diseases and antimicrobial management. 								<description>Royal Oak, Michigan,  Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak offers an ASHP-accredited&#xa0;twelve-month Critical Care PGY2 Residency program for one residency candidate. Our program strives to meet the needs of the resident based on previous PGY1 residency experience, interests and individual goals of the candidate. 
 This residency program is divided into ten-one month critical care rotations, an orientation month and a research month. An individual training plan is created for each resident. All residents complete a research project and present their study results at a regional residency conference in the spring. &#xa0; 
 PGY2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in advanced or specialized practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care that improves medication therapy. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency should possess competencies that qualify them for clinical pharmacist and/or faculty positions and position them to be eligible for attainment of board certification in that practice area (when board certification for the practice area exists). 
 This residency provides a well-rounded experience in both the medical and surgical critical care populations. A number of core and elective rotations strengthen the resident&#8217;s critical care fundamentals as well as providing flexibility to meet the individual&#39;s needs. The program is designed to transition PGY1 residency graduates from general pharmacy practice to specialized practice that meets the needs of critically ill patients by developing the resident&#39;s clinical expertise in critical care. It also provides additional opportunities for teaching, research, quality improvement, and professional writing. 
 Training focuses on developing resident capability to deal with a range of diseases and disorders that occur in the critically ill. Special emphasis is placed on the complexities of multiple organ system failure and the difficulties imposed on care when patients require life-sustaining equipment. 
 At residency completion, PGY2 graduates exit equipped to be fully integrated members of the interdisciplinary critical care team, able to make complex medication recommendations in the acute environment of the critically ill patient population.&#xa0; Graduates of the critical care residency are also experienced in short-term research in the critical care environment and excel in their ability to teach other health care professionals. They also acquire the experience necessary to exercise leadership for critical care practice in the health system. 
 The goal of the program is to develop independent pharmacy practitioners to become integral members of the critical care multidisciplinary team.

The purpose of the PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy program is to prepare the resident to obtain a position as an Ambulatory Care Clinical Specialist. Residents will take full responsibility for the care of each patient served.&#xa0; They will provide necessary education for both medical professionals operating in the Outpatient Clinic as well as all patients treated.&#xa0; All pharmacotherapy and disease state issues will be addressed and resolved while taking into account potential barriers in the implementation of the pharmacotherapy plan (i.e. patients&#39; socioeconomic status, insurance status, and/or cultural barriers).&#xa0; Residents will practice pharmacy and communicate to other healthcare professionals in a manner that displays commitment to the profession and importance of a clinical specialist in the outpatient setting.
