To build on the Doctor of Pharmacy education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification and eligible for PGY-2 residency training.
Provide training and experience needed to deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical services to patients in the outpatient setting.
Develop leadership skills needed to cultivate a clinical practice in an ambulatory care setting.
Promote the profession through patient care activities and educating and precepting pharmacy students.
Foster the development of professionals who provide valuable, dynamic education to patients and healthcare professionals.
Develop practitioners who can create and implement medication policies that ensure rational, cost effective drug therapy for patients.

Residency program activities
Geisinger Clinic Northeast PGY-1 residency offers a variety of experiences that allow residents to develop into skilled practitioners with a primary focus in ambulatory care, customized to fit the personal and professional goals of the resident. Each resident will be expected to provide quality pharmaceutical care by implementing safe, efficacious, and cost-effective drug therapy for all patients. While working on a multidisciplinary team, the resident will work in partnership with all care team members utilizing a collaborative practice-based model. Chronic disease management services will be provided through face-to-face visits and telephonically. The resident will be encouraged to innovate, lead, and improve the quality of care for patients while utilizing integrated and routine communication with both health care professionals and patients.
PharmD or equivalent degree (from an ACPE-accredited school or college)
Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
