PGY1 Pharmacy & PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership
The PGY1-PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) Residency at Geisinger offers customized residency education to successfully prepare clinical pharmacists to care for patients, innovate, lead, and improve the quality of care as well as the patient experience. Residents are immersed in a collaborative interprofessional culture where clinical pharmacists practice at the top of their license in acute care, ambulatory care, specialty pharmacy and research. Each individual resident’s curriculum is customized to facilitate achievement of their personal and professional goals.
Our goal is to provide each resident an exceptional training experience to foster the development of their professional expertise and competence as a health system pharmacy practitioner and leader. Our residency and system leadership team are part of all facets of Geisinger’s integrated care delivery system and will provide residents with a broad range of opportunities in traditional hospital administration, ambulatory care administration, hematology-oncology programs, and health plan pharmacy administration.
Our program provides residents with the opportunity to develop a solid clinical and operational foundation in the PGY1 year at Geisinger Medical Center, and then builds on that experience in the PGY2 year, capitalizing on the unique learning environment offered through the integrated care delivery system at Geisinger. Our team fosters an innovative and supportive learning environment with enriching opportunities for pharmacy residency training in administration and leadership in the practice settings of acute care, ambulatory care and health plan pharmacy. Upon graduation, residents are prepared for a clinical or operational management role/supervisory role in a variety of work settings.
