Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego, is the county’s longest-established medical center and an academic teaching hospital, STEMI receiving center, Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center, and a Level I Trauma Center. The emergency department is one of the busiest in San Diego, which sees more than approximately 75,000 patients annually in the heart of downtown San Diego. The emergency department has over 25 medical attendings, 5 nurse practitioners and 3 pharmacist attendings along with medical residents who rotate through the program. The trauma service consists of six attending trauma surgeons, medical residents as well as trauma fellows. This specialized residency
