Advocate Sherman Hospital PGY1 Pharmacy Residency provides post-graduate pharmacists with a foundation of experience in a community hospital setting, one-on-one training, and engaging opportunities to match each resident’s personal goals and interests. Residents receive the experience and mentoring needed to perform as competent, independent clinicians in tomorrow’s challenging healthcare environment.

Candidate requirements

Applicants must meet the following qualifications to be considered for the program:

• Graduate of an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy (or one in process of pursuing accreditation) or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP).
• Eligible for pharmacist licensure in Illinois. Residents are expected to be licensed as a pharmacist in the state of Illinois prior to starting the residency program and sit for exams at the first available opportunity.
• Not employed outside Advocate Aurora Health during the program.
• US citizen or permanent resident of the US.

Pharmacy Residency programs participate in the Residency Matching Program ("The Match"). After "The Match," employment as a pharmacy resident is contingent upon the applicant satisfying Advocate Aurora Health's employment eligibility requirements, including:

• Application evaluation by Human Resources
• Pre-employment physical and drug screen (urine analysis)
