Program Overview:

This is a  twelve-month post-graduate year 2 program is designed to provide advanced training in clinical pharmacy practice focusing on patient care and education in pain management in a variety of settings and palliative care. The resident will become an integral part of our pharmacist-run outpatient Pain clinic and interdisciplinary groups such as the Opioid Safety Initiative committee and Palliative Care rounds. The resident will also have the opportunity to precept pharmacy students from the University of California San Diego and the University of the Pacific. Following the completion of this program, residents will be prepared to assume the challenging but fulfilling role as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in pain and palliative care.

Facilities: The resident office will be located at the VA Medical Center in La Jolla, California and most activities will be coordinated from this site.

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS

• Register with the ASHP Resident Matching Program accessible at http://www.natmatch.com/ashprmp/
• Possess United States citizenship; Naturalized citizens must be able to provide proof of naturalization
• Possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited School or College of Pharmacy
• PGY2 applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy from any state at the beginning of their residency program
• PGY2 applicants must complete or be in the process of completing an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency
