About Our Managed Care ResidencyAdvocate Health Population Health Pharmacy – Midwest Region's PGY1 managed care pharmacy residency is part of Advocate Health Midwest, an integrated health care system in Wisconsin and Illinois. The population health pharmacy department encompasses 3 distinct pharmacy teams: the virtual outreach team, the managed care team, and the pharmacy benefit management team. Together these teams perform many functions to optimize health outcomes, including medication therapy management, chronic disease state management, development of utilization management policies and protocols for medical benefit plans, and prior authorization reviews for select medications through pharmacy and medical benefit plans. Advocate Health Population Health Pharmacy – Midwest Region PGY1 Managed Care Pharmacy Residency provides post-graduate pharmacists with a foundation of experience in a managed care setting, one-on-one training, and engaging opportunities to match each resident’s personal goals and interests. Residents receive the experience and mentoring needed to perform as competent, independent managed care pharmacists in tomorrow’s challenging healthcare environment. This program is based in Illinois with a remote-first work format. Advocate Health Midwest supports multiple other PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs across Illinois and Wisconsin. Pharmacy residents gain real-world perspective and benefit from enterprise-wide resources! Required Learning ExperiencesResidents will work with all 3 pharmacy teams (the virtual outreach team, the managed care team, and the pharmacy benefit management team) performing the functions of each team to optimize health outcomes. Residents will also assist with facilitation of P&T Committee meetings and gain experience with leaders and their roles within the organization. Core Block LEs:
