The PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at Baptist Medical Center South has an accreditation pre-candidate status with the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Baptist Medical Center South is a 492-bed, not-for-profit, faith-based, acute care regional referral center. Our facility in Montgomery, AL serves our community and central Alabama as a Level II trauma center, primary stroke center, and level III NICU. The facility provides specialized care for a variety of disease states across Cardiac, Cardiovascular, Medical, Neurological, and Surgical critical care units and is one of only two ECMO-capable sites in the state. Within this environment, residents in the critical care PGY2 program will have the opportunity to build upon the foundations of PGY1 training and train alongside our experienced, decentralized clinical pharmacy team. Along with required experiences across our adult ICUs and emergency departments, residents will have the opportunity to tailor their year with elective experiences in neonatal critical care, antimicrobial stewardship, nutrition services, transitions of care, and more. With multiple pharmacy students and PGY1 residents at our facility, PGY2 residents will also have the opportunity to grow as preceptors and learn the skills necessary to pass on their own expertise throughout their career.
